BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The process of moving raw materials and completed commodities from the site of production to the point of purchase is one of the responsibilities of logistics management. Before being utilised in the production process or offered for sale to the consumer, both the raw materials and the finished items are stored in the warehouse. If it is effectively managed, distribution costs will be reduced, but this will not necessarily come at the price of an improved quality of customer care or an enhanced level of consumer utility. Logistics management is defined by Alexander and Franco (2022) as "fraction cost reductions, higher competitiveness secured on additional customer value of goods, and enhancement of profit potential."

In addition, the purpose of this research is to investigate the ways in which efficient management of logistics may enhance the quality of marketing decisions and the overall performance of a business.

The second objective of the research is to investigate the means by which businesses may fulfil the requirements of their customers in terms of both the quality of the services they provide and the expectations they have of those services.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the role that logistics management plays in the process of managing the market for agricultural goods. The shortcomings of logistics management will also be evaluated as part of this research; some of these difficulties include the following:

An in-depth study and critical analysis of logistics management in Nigeria's agricultural sector revealed that the country's government has made a number of efforts in the past, both to solve the problem and to improve the level of agriculture to a point that is beyond the expectations of the people. These efforts have taken the form of the formulation of policies by both the civilian government and the military government. The study issue reveals that logistics management in agricultural goods is responsible for a significant number of duties in the marketing of their products. Are,. (2022) The research makes it abundantly clear that if the logistics industry has good qualified engineers, and those engineers know the kind of problem their equipment has without having to consult any experts for assistance, then their raw materials and finished goods will arrive at their customer destination on time.

Since the maintenance department is able to effectively carry out their work duties, there is a need to come up with methods for maintaining agricultural facilities in order for the production department to be able to fulfil their output objective (Crowder, 2021).

The need that an appropriate marketing centre be made available to them so that they may conveniently sell their agricultural produce. Because there is a market centre where agricultural products can be sold and the area is motorable, the logistics management finds it simple to handle the situation. If this is the case, the flows of raw materials and finished goods will be able to satisfy their demand without any delay.

It is necessary to give sufficient means for preserving the standard quality of their products in order to prevent the sale of adulterated goods in the market. This is necessary to ensure that the quality of their product will continue to be consistent and will not degrade.
